Alternatives for Youth is dedicated to collaborating with area non-profits and agencies to help youth succeed. In addition to our programs and services, our staff and youth are actively involved in collaborating with other community organizations throughout the year, including
Folklorico Dance Group is dance troupe that celebrates diversity and Hispanic and Latino heritage through performances of traditional Mexican dances and provides a positive recreational activity, positive peer group and supportive adult mentor to at-risk girls and young women. The twelve-member troupe practices weekly and performs at approximately seven events in Longmont and Boulder County.
Parents Involved in Education meetings are held in collaboration with
Community Action Programs, Healthy Youth Alliance, Alternatives for Youth, Boulder County Public Health, Boulder Valley Women’s Health Center, Dental Aid, St. Vrain Family Center, Ed and Ruth Lehman YMCA, Intercambio Uniting Communities, City of Longmont Children and Youth Resources, St. Vraion Valley School District, and Colorado Division of Behavioral Health. The meetings provide parent education throughout the school year once or twice a month at local schools. Topics include navigating the school system, the power of parents, a resource fair, teens and sex, and preparing for a better future. Meetings are free and include a light dinner and childare. AFY staff, youth participants and volunteers provide support for a variety of community celebrations, including Longmont Celebrates Cinco de Mayo, El Dieciseis de Septiembre and El Dia de Los Muertos at the Longmont Museum and Cultural Center. We encourage youth and parents to attend these events as positive recreational activities and a celebration of culture and heritage. Other Collaborations

AFY cooperates with City of Longmont’s Children and Youth Resources, Police Department, Parks and Recreation, Gang Response and Intervention Program (GRIP), El Comité, Joder Arabian Ranch, Longmont Teen Clinic, Boulder County’s Public Health and Mental Health, Department of Social Services, Healthy Youth Alliance, Teen Pregnancy Prevention, Community Action Programs and Tobacco Education and Prevention, St. Vrain Community Council, Dental Aid, St. Vrain Family Center, OUR Center, Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley, and Longmont Community Justice Partnership. AFY coordinates with the Parents Involved in Education Taskforce, Longmont Celebrates Cinco de Mayo, St. Vrain Valley School District, Longmont ASSET Coalition, Truancy Collaborative, and Longmont Museum and Cultural Center.

El Grupo de Danza Folklórico es un grupo de danza que celebra la diversidad y la herencia Latina e Hispana a través de presentaciones de bailes Mexicanos tradicionales y proporciona una actividad recreativa positiva, un grupo positivo de compañeros y mentores adultos capaces de apoyar a niñas y mujeres jóvenes en peligro. El grupo de doce miembros practica cada semana y se presenta en aproximadamente siete eventos en el condado de Longmont and Boulder.
Las juntas de la Padres Involucrados en la Educación se hacen con la colaboración del
